paper 4 question 2

The English in our culture as well as language itself does directly shape our thoughts and how we communicate.  Each language is different with cultural differences within each form of english that is being spoken.  As each of us are born into different cultures with different families, each of us are affected differently by the form of speech taught by the parents who are teaching this language. An excerpt provided by stanford university presents and example and many samples of how we all share a similar opinion that language changes and shapes our thoughts. As different structures in different forms of English are presented this changes the thought process of how the words are presented and left off during the speech process. In a standard english form one would say “She broke the cup.”’ as presented in the excerpt while a japanese speaker would say “The cup broke itself.” In the English form one is putting blame on a specific person who broke the cup. However, as the ja...

Nowadays English is constantly growing with about 1.5 billion people speaking it not including those attempting to learn it. Following this, English has been one of the most important languages to learn as its status continues to grow. English may not always grow as time goes however, as of right now English is growing as more people learn this as their first and second languages. English remains to grow as a whole but so do technological advancements in today's day and age. For example, people reading articles or excerpts in mostly English will soon be able to have it read to them in different languages like German or japanese. Relating this back to the main question, The English language will always be a part of today's society as it grows even if it means not many people use it there will always be a large majority of people learning it as the population grows at an astounding rate.  The reasoning for a predefined language to be recognized as the global language is fo...

This excerpt stays in the format of the letter through the beginning to end and concludes the writing with ¨ Happy regards¨ to end off the writing. Beginning my analysis about structure the author wrote short paragraphs throughout the entire text and stuck to multiple points in what he was talking about. He started including more and more as he went on and the paragraphs extended as they went to the end of the letter. As the writing goes on the author switches his points from I to we as he had already given the reader all of his advice and the reader has now become the same ...

paper 3 section B

Reina and her mother are in the countryside having a conversation side by side. Reina is in the 3- 5 stage of developing post telegraphic. This stage is more in depth with the complex of conjunctions such as because or although which develop with age. Reinas mother tends to add a suffix to the words she would speak to her daughter with such as ´ies´ and she would use in an instance of ¨birdies¨ to make it more childish for her daughter to understand. According to the LASS these words become easier to understand for Reina as the words become easier to reference with other things or objects. Raina's mother constantly utilizes positive intonation. She closes her inquiries, "see the butterfly" and "see it in the long grass," with a higher pitch as it draws and coordinates Raina's consideration. Although this is regularly alluded to as child talk, she involves it as a method for keeping Raina intrigued. Additionally, her mother intensely utilizes overseer langu...

paper 3 blog - PAPPIIIII CHULLOOOO

Text A  is an excerpt written by Edward Berens, which is a letter written by an uncle to a nephew in 1832. Following this meaning that the lexus and form of language choice is similar but not exact to modern English now in the present day. The lexus and form change originates at the beginning of text A when it says the text is a series of letters which are hardly used now in modern day. We communicate through Emails and text messages similar but not exact to a letter. This also pushes me to expand on how advancements in technology have influenced this as well. In text A Edward states the word ‘company’ used to represent a goal or group which is referred to in the same sentence of the word in which it was used. This shows a semantic change in the language used in Text A as nowadays we would use the word “Company” to represent a Commercial Business started by the ‘Company’ owner. The word Company has expanded since then as previously stated with the technological advancements ...

review on amuzement parks paper 2

The collier county Fair opened over a few weeks ago having younge kids and teanagers exited aswell as older families and their kids. What makes the atmosphere at a theme park so exciting?  One thing everyone can't seem to miss at the fair or theme park is the food. For the first time I tried fried oreos and rolled ice cream that were sold at the fair and it was definitely my top favorite ice cream sold at an amusement park I have been to. When people see the mix of sweets and salty foods such as dippin dots or mac and cheese bowls they just can't seem to resist their unhealthy temptations and I was one of them, and of course it was totally worth it. I think the food sold at the fair is by far one of the things that makes an amusement park worth the money. Most of the people seem pleased with the food sold; the rides are particularly the reason people enjoy going to the amusement park for the thrill of going high and dropping from many feet high. With long lines ranging...
